Santa Clara County is located in the southern end of the San Francisco Bay and its population just keeps growing and growing. The numbers are near 1.7 million and there are a variety of reasons for such high population. Its county seat is San Jose and that city is the largest city within the county. Other cities include Gilroy, Los Altos, Morgan Hill, Santa Clara, and Sunnyvale.
Santa Clara County, or Silicon Valley, as it is known by the locals has close to 1,400 square miles of land with warm and dry weather for almost the entire year. The temperature rarely drops below freezing allowing tourists and residents alike to enjoy outdoor activities all year long. Snow is reserved for the mountain caps and rain generally only comes in wintertime.
The outdoors in Santa Clara County is great for hiking, biking, sight seeing and nature walks. There are local theme parks that can turn a family vacation into an adventure. Raging Waters, Paramount’s Great America, and Bonfante Gardens are all fun places to visit and explore. The annual Santa Clara County Fair is also a good attraction for everyone.
Santa Clara County is also known for its local museums and galleries. There is the Tech Museum of Innovation, the San Jose Museum of Art, and the Triton Museum. Performing arts are a fantastic idea for a night out and in Santa Clara; there are opera, symphonies, and concerts. Kids also have musical theatre and the Children’s Discovery Museum.
Education is also a part of Santa Clara County. Three major universities call this county home. Stanford University, Santa Clara University, and San Jose State University are top rated and accredited educational institutions. There are several community colleges here too.
The San Jose Sharks are the only professional hockey team in Northern California and their home is Santa Clara County. The Sabercats, CyberRays, Giants, and Earthquakes also play here. Golf courses make up parts of the county, both private and open to the public.
Santa Clara County is proud to be a leader in employment. It actually accounts for more than a quarter of the jobs in the San Francisco Bay area. Besides that, it offers outdoor fun; college education and a place to sight see all within of what the great state of California offers.
