About the College
In the beginning Gavilan College was established as San Benito County Junior College in 1919. By 1966, the name was changed along with the location. The college was built at Santa Teresa Boulevard in Gilroy, which is still the home of the main campus. Improvements to the college have been approved with the passage of the Measure E. facilities bond in 2004. The improvements expected include institutional and classroom technology, expanded online services, and improvements in safety, accessibility, and lighting. Campuses Main Campus The main campus of Gavilan College is home in Gilroy on Teresa Blvd. Other campuses include Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center in Morgan Hill, Hollister Briggs Site in Hollister, and Hollister Aviation Site in Hollister. Courses Gavilan College offers degrees and majors in administration of justice, allied health, apprenticeship programs, aviation maintenance technology, biological science, business, child development, communication studies, computer graphic & design, computer science & information systems, cosmetology, digital media, English as a second language, fire technology, theatre arts, music, media arts, fine arts, art, Spanish, social science, physical science & engineering, physical education & athletics, philosophy, mathematics, liberal arts options, and general education. Gavilan College does not stop with academic programs but also offers a wide variety of student services. A few of the support services and programs include Basic Skills Network, CalWORKs, Disability Resource Center, Extended Opportunity Program & Services, Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement, Puente, and TRIO.
