About the college
University of the West was founded in 1991 with a mission to provide students with an education of Buddhist visions and values. In addition, students will learn the cultural link between the East and the West. Students at University of the West receive quality education under a well-educated staff and faculty with knowledge that includes creative problem solving skills and form personal relationships between you, as the student, and the community. Campus Rosemead, California is the location for the campus of University of the West. The campus includes a state of the art library within an intimate sized campus so that students have easy access from the two dorms, study rooms and the educational buildings. Also on campus are classrooms, recreational buildings, auditorium and the office buildings all within walking distance of each other. Within the library are computers and a computer lab with internet access. Students also have audio learning within a foreign language lab so that they can learn to communicate around campus with everyone. Courses The programs at University of the West include business administration, languages, religious studies, continuing education courses, psychology and research centers that include Chinese Buddhist Studies, Digital Sanskrit Buddhist Canon and the Center for the Study of Minority and Small Business. The university also offers extended studies that include courses in the spread of Buddhism to Northeast Asia, research methodologies, religion and the meaning of the existence, Buddhist psychology and the dimensions of religion.
