About the college
When it was founded in 1961 this private college was called Stenotype School of Long Beach. It then moved to Westminster in 1974, and the name was changed to Whitley College. In 1980 Whitley College and Orange County College of Court Reporting merged and thus became South Coast College. This college prepares students for careers in medical and legal fields. Every year they improve their courses to meet the needs of the ever-changing world and career paths. South Coast College believes that concentrated training in one field will lead to other types of education besides chosen field. About the campus South Coast College is all about education but they also know they need to be able to relax and enjoy themselves in their off time. That is why they have made this campus user friendly as well as educational. They put on special events like concerts, raffles, and buffets. They also have in their 30,000 sq ft two story building the following additions: An auditorium for concerts and such, a courtroom for mock trials, highly advanced computer labs and medical transcription labs, a full textbook law library, medical classrooms fully equipped with up to date equipment, bookstore, steno machine repair room, financial aid department, and three typing areas. They do not have on campus housing or meals. There are many restaurants close by and the student services have a list of available rooms and apartments in the area. About the courses Being a highly accredited legal and law school they offer classes in Court reporting, legal administration, court reporter, paralegal, medical transcriptionist, and medical assistant. They have financial aid available for those students who need to apply and are eligible for it. They will walk you through it, help you by applying, and tell you what all you need to have for it.
