About the college
At Patten University the mission is simple. The school provides quality education to those seeking higher education opportunities within a Judeo-Christian environment. The school was founded in 1944 with faith-based education as what they would be known for. Years later and the university is still going strong while offering students undergraduate and graduate programs in classes that are small enough so that each student gets the individualized instruction that they may need. Campus The campus is located in Oakland, California, which is culturally diverse with a location close to the city of San Francisco. 5 acres of land are what the campus sits upon and its atmosphere is a quiet beauty resembling a park with flowers, trees, and plants. Inside the campus is a classroom, administrative building and a church campus complete with a prayer chapel. The campus also offers student residences, library, and a campus activity center. Life at the campus is full of activities that bring students together in prayer and also academically, athletically and socially plus mission trips. Courses The programs at Patten are broken down into four divisions of study. They are arts, sciences, and business, biblical, and theological studies, education, and continuing/extended education. The school also offers weekend science courses. The arts and biblical programs offer a variety of courses with Bachelor of Arts and associate of arts degrees upon completion of the program. The education program has an associate’s degree in early education and a master’s in education plus a teaching credential. In the continuing education program there is an online bachelor’s degree program in church leadership available. Patten is dedicated to teaching religion and education together harmoniously. The end result is graduates with leadership skills and a knowledge that goes beyond the classroom.
