About the College
Five Branches University’s main focus on programs offered is traditional Chinese medical theory and diagnosis, acupuncture, herbology and Western medicine. So when founded by Ron Zaidman and Joanna Zhao it was on February 4, 1984 which was the Chinese New Year in the year of the Mouse. This was at the beginning of a 60 year cycle. They only had one classroom; the clinic had three treatment rooms and five teachers with 18 students. They now have two campuses, 12 classrooms with 33 treatment rooms and 100 teachers. They are up to 450 students and they see upwards of 160 patients a day. They sure have come a long way. About the campus Students at Five branches University have the best of both worlds. They have beautiful beaches and forests to relax in and they have a city that is full of excitement and ethnicity! The campus is located only a block from the beach. In the heart of this campus is the medical center, which provides healthcare for over 24 years. The campus is one of the most modern in California. When you enter the campus you will see a very welcoming courtyard that leads to the medical center and university. They do not provide on campus housing but you should arrive early so you can find housing closest to the campus you will be going to because between the two campuses there is a 35 mile stretch. Student Life can help you with finding housing for you. About the courses The courses offered are the highest quality education for the growth of art and science of Traditional Chinese medicine. These include a traditional Chinese medicine master’s degree, a doctor of acupuncture and oriental medicine, a massage certification program, international studies, continuing education that goes beyond graduation with their continuing education courses. These courses are Reflexology, Aromatherapy, and herbal medicine.
