About the college
The English Center has been teaching from around the world since 1977. The center is an independent, non-profit organization that focuses on higher learning. They have programs for business professionals and international immigrants and students. The mission of the school is to give those who do not speak the English the opportunity to reach their full potential in successful education and careers. The school teaches the students the skills that they need in order to shine in the competitive job market with classes and employment services. Campus Oakland, California serves as the home for the English Center. Their programs are designed to give students the skills needed in order to land the perfect job in their chosen industry. The campus offers on site training for employers in the Bay Area. This gives community employers the opportunity to enhance their workers skills. The services at the English Center go beyond training for a career. They help you find a job, offer career and academic counseling, an internship program so students can work while attending school and help to gain admission to a 4-year university or college. Courses The courses at the English Center are small with an average of 13 students. The school offers core classes of grammar, reading/writing and speaking/listening. There are a variety of elective courses for students to take. They include, but are not limited to computer applications, Women in the arts and business writing. A test is given to each student to see if they qualify for classes that range from beginning to advanced. There are also English language programs and a career advancement program. The English Center helps those who may not understand the English language learn it and use it to their benefit. Everyone deserves to obtain the skills that will make them successful in the future and the English Center is the proof.
