About the College

Founded in 1965 by William Bell, American Conservatory Theatre, or A.C.T., is a college dedicated to the fine art of the theatre. It involves superior training for actors in a live production of iconic plays and amazing harmony with the community. A.C.T. is a place where awards have been won, lives have been changed, and emotions have been striped down and built back up again. The conservatory is a leader in dramatic renditions of classic works and contemporary scripts. This college is one with great involvement from their audience as well as the devout community.

Campus

The campus of A.C.T. is one that is more like a movie with room for all the imagination in the world. A.C.T. is located at 30 Grant Avenue, Sixth Floor in the San Francisco, California. It has a prime location in the heart of Union Square with San Francisco as the city that looks great on an actor’s resume. The city has enough acting opportunities to make your head spin, but also is small enough to be recognized on the streets. The A.C.T. has 10 studio and a black box theatre that pairs students with main stage actors as the conservatory is connected to the main stage production area.

Courses

The courses at A.C.T. are all involved with the theatre and the art of production and introduction of new actors in the business. There is a Master of Fine Arts Program and the college also offers Studio A.C.T., which is one of the best acting schools in the country. The classes are small to insure proper training by renowned instructors in the field. Courses include movement workshops, acting, improv to dialect, and voice.

A.C.T. is producing some of the finest actors and one of them could be you.
