About the college
In 1921 San Jose City College, SJCC, put itself on the map. Over 30 years later and the school were moved to its current location at Moorpark Avenue. Only 10 years passed since that day and the San Jose Junior College District was founded and in 1958 the name San Jose City College was applied and the school has been under that name ever since. The college offers quality education with programs that prepare graduates for careers and participation in the community and social justice ventures. Campus The San Jose, California campus offers students a beautiful place to enrich their lives. While attending classes students have counseling services, special programs like Americorps, job placement, recruitment and an honors program, tutoring and student clubs. The campus also has a career and transfer center, child development services, library, bookstore, a reading/writing center and Jaguar athletic programs. Courses The academic divisions offered at SJCC are applied science, business/service careers, humanities and social sciences, language arts and math and science. SJCC also has special programs that include California Construction College, an honors program, learning communities, middle college, service learning, tech prep, transfer express and a work experience program. Distance learning at the college combines face-to-face classes, hybrid classes: online and classroom and strictly online classes. SJCC offers certificate degrees upon completion of required courses. There certificates of competency, certificates of specialization and certificates of achievement. Graduates can earn associate of science and associate of arts degrees from the college too.
