About the college

Years ago, over a 100 to be exact, Ruth Maurer had the idea to make face cream in her basement and that one little idea exploded and made her a household name. The year that Ruth started selling her age defying beauty products worldwide was 1903 and two short years later she and her husband decided to start a beauty school that could train those passionate about beauty and offer salon services to the public. The Marinello School of Beauty was born.

Campus

The San Diego campus in the beautiful state of California has five courses of study for its students. San Diego is a city of creativity with golf courses near by and great weather. Campus life gives students a hands-on learning experience with required classroom work that leads students to the campus salon. There students get to work with the community providing salon services and cultivating relationships. It is possible that the patrons that visit the salon could one day be your clients.

Courses

The five programs offered in San Diego are cosmetology, manicuring, esthetics, master spa therapy and advanced education with face and body treatments. Each program has a required amount of clocked hours that must be worked in order to graduate. The program with the highest amount is the general cosmetology course with 1600 hours and the manicuring course has the least with only 400 hours.

All of the programs give students fake exams to prepare them for the board exams. Students also get to work behind the scenes while attending classes. They can work backstage at hair, nails, and fashion shoots to gain valuable experience. The Marinello School of Beauty has been around since 1905 and they are here to stay.
