About the college
Hebrew Union College was founded in 1875 and it is the oldest college of higher Jewish education in Reform Judaism. They educate men and women to be rabbis, cantors, educators, and communal service professionals in degree programs of all faiths. When it was founded by Rabbi Isaac Mayer Wise when he came to America he found that there was only one ordained Rabbi in all of America. Understanding the urgent need for rabbinical training he started the college. With the Jewish population exceeding 150,000 he created the college to create the Reform Judaism.
About the Campus
Hebrew Union College in Los Angeles scans 5 acres in the center of Los Angeles. Next to it is the University of Southern California. Even though there are many vending machines around the student area they do not provide meals to the students. You will find many restaurants in the local area to get some great meals. They do not offer on campus housing but have many Host families who provide a room with either breakfast or two meals a day. You must eat the meals agreed upon. Many just take the breakfast because the schedules conflict with being able to have two other meals a day. They become your family and some even include the student in family activities.
About the Courses
