East Los Angeles is an institution that comprises 14 communities within its gates. The college is unique in that it offers programs where students can graduate in less than 2 years and transfer courses for students to start at ELAC and move on to a 4 year university or college when its time. Their courses give students the opportunity to earn basic skills or career skills for a new job or career advancement.

Campus

East Los Angeles College is located in the city of Monterey Park in California. The campus is located in a suburban community that is 10 miles east of downtown LA. Having California as your college’s state of choice gives students deserts, mountains, and beaches as a backdrop. Buildings within the campus include a library, instructional center, bookstore, sports stadium, and an indoor swim stadium. In the student activities center there is a computer center that students have turned into a meeting place and somewhat of a hang out.

Courses

The college offers a variety of academic departments that offer degrees, certificates and several courses within that study of interest. East Los Angeles College offers a first year program, online courses, an honors program, the Southgate Educational Center for the growing population and a full time adults who work program called the Program for Adult College Education or PACE. The college offers a variety of certificates and degrees in various studies of interest. There are also skill certificates that are available in classes like fingerprint classification, child, family and education studies, digital imaging, and many others.

East Los Angeles College is on a mission to help students and the community. The school offers courses that can heighten your skill level or put you in position to transfer to a university. Whatever your education needs are they have got you covered.
