Downey Adult School has been an active part of the California education system for over 65 years. The school is located in Downey, California at the northeast corner of Imperial Highway and Woodruff Avenue. Downey Adult School offers financial aid with Teri Loans and federal pell grants for the LVN students. Babysitting is offered at the campus for students attending English as a Second Language courses. Downey Adult School has an active student body involved in student organizations like community service, scholarship fundraisers, and school leadership. The school also has counseling services, pre and post employment groups, and ID cards that give students discounts on the bus, at movies or use as a picture ID.

Courses

Downey Adult School offers its students online classes and web-based courses that are paired with Gatlin Education Services. Students can choose from business, court reporting, health care and English. Classroom courses include an office business center that teaches classes in accounting, Microsoft applications, and internet skills. Other courses offered are nursing, court reporting, Cosmetology, English as a second language and health and fitness. Students can also choose from career enhancement, parenting programs, arts and crafts, classes for adults over 55 and a high school diploma program.
