About the college

In the state of California, there are community colleges just about everywhere. In 1914, the very first one in San Diego opened its doors for the first time. The college was San Diego City College and it was the third community college to be established in the state of California. In that fateful year, there were only 35 students and 4 teachers, but over 90 years later and the student body and faculty have dramatically increased.

Campus

San Diego, California is a city where students can enjoy year round outdoor activities, beaches, deserts and mountains close by too. The campus houses a 67,000 square foot learning center with internet ready computers and learning resources and periodicals for all students. On campus is also a gymnasium that seats 2,000 fans, basketball, badminton and volleyball courts, plus workout rooms. While attending college students have access to a career and transfer center, counseling, both on campus and online, tutoring, and a child development center.

Courses

At San Diego City College, students are offered degree and certificate programs, programs of instruction, apprenticeship, career and technical programs and opportunities to study abroad. There are academic, instruction, and vocational programs for students to earn degrees and certificates. The list of courses are from A-Z. Off campus, extended education classes and online courses give students flexible scheduling and a variety for their academic experience.

At the college, students are offered a variety of programs and areas for achievement. Starting an education at San Diego City College gives students an opportunity to update career skills, learn new ones, or study at San Diego for the first 2 years of their degree and then transfer to a 4-year university of their choice. The possibilities are endless and your future is on the rise.
