About the college

Dongguk Royal University has a rich history that dates back to the 1970’s. In 1976, Dr. Harvart R. Hongo began teaching acupuncture and Oriental medicine in his own private practice. Three short years later and the Royal University of America was founded and began teaching higher learning with the elements of acupuncture and oriental medicine. In 1997, that university merged with the College of Oriental Medicine to give us the university that we have today.

Campus

The university has a prime location in California. It is located in the city of Los Angeles where the diverse cultures of Chinatown, Korea town, Little Tokyo, Midwilshire and the ever-changing downtown are all put together in a melting pot of culture and uniqueness. Having LA, as your campus location is great because you get scenic landscape including mountains, beaches, shopping centers, theatres, and restaurants. The campus is full of student activities like the Oriental Medical Center where senior students get hands on training.
