About the college
The Design Institute of San Diego is a private, individual college dedicated to teaching the basics and fundamentals of interior design. The institute was founded in 1977. Their role is to teach students the skills that will lead them into a successful and rewarding career. The faculty is full of interior designers, artists, architects, engineers, historians, environmental psychologists, lighting designers and business consultants all devoted to the love of design. Campus San Diego is a perfect location for the Design Institute. The city is full of great architecture and amazing local attractions. San Diego has beautiful weather and a variety of outdoor activities for students to enjoy. The campus has large classrooms with state of the art equipment all set up near the beaches of La Jolla. The facilities themselves are of great architectural design and they include computer labs, media center, library, exhibition spaces, a lighting lab, and media room. The school has amenities for students that are extraordinary with the beautiful landscape of California to keep them company. Courses The only course offered at the Design Institute is fittingly an interior design program. That is what the school is all about and they would not have it any other way. This is an undergraduate study that incorporates all aspects of the visual arts including two-dimensional and three-dimensional design, drawing, and color. The students gain an understanding of the history of interior design and the use of furniture, interior architecture, and decorative objects to learn and be able to perform room or whole house designs. Students at DISD get the training of interior design with the use of shapes, colors and lighting to produce the best product in the interior design field.
