About the college
The Art Center College of Design is a leader in design and art education. The school has been teaching the love of art for nearly 80 years. Edward A. Adams founded the school in 1930 and it has been a pioneer in art education ever since. The art center was the first to teach students real world skills with art design leading them beyond a paintbrush and to executive positions. The school has been associated with colored dots, started by the founder, used on business cards and paperwork associated with the school. Campus There are two campuses that encompass the Art Center College of Design. Both call Pasadena, California home. One of the campuses is located in the hills above the Rose Bowl while the other is located in the southern part of the city. The hillside campus is built upon historically noted architecture of steel and glass. This campus is 21,000 square feet of educational design and learning. The southern campus is 100,000 square feet with a 16,000 square feet wind tunnel for the ultimate in design discussions. This campus offers students a state of the ark amenities including a printmaking studio and Graduates Arts Complex. Courses The Art Center College of Design offers students graduate and undergraduate programs. Graduate programs include Graduate Art, broadcast cinema, and media design. Film and graphic design are included in the undergraduate programs. There are public programs at the college that teach art to kids and offer a summer institute to teachers. At the Art Center College of Design community and the Designmatters Department pair students and faculty with real world issues. Art imitates life and it is a high priority at this college.
