About the college

Antelope Valley College has been dedicated to teaching its students for over 75 years. The college started out small with only 13 students attending at the time. Times were hard for Antelope Valley when the Great Depression hit, but since that time attendance has increased and things have improved. In 1957, its first president graced the university’s doors, Dr. Lowell F. Baker and then a district of schools was founded. Today the college stands tall across 135 acres.

Campus

The campus at Antelope Valley has come a long way since sharing classrooms with the local high school. In 1959 a new campus was constructed on 110 acres with room for growth and grow it did. A few years later, the district of colleges was founded and more students were added. A music building, black box theatre, arts building and consumer education building were soon added. Buildings for automotive technology and welding also broke ground to turn Antelope Valley into one of the best colleges around. For the future, the college hopes to add a theatre building and a Health & Science building to the campus.
