About the school
Pomona Valley only had one small room to hold classes in when it was started in 1871. There was so much demand for it after that they decided to build a small schoolhouse. Then by 1875, there were more than 70 students. They built a central school in 1876 in Spadra, which is what Pomona was called at that time. When Pomona was incorporated in 1888, the Palomares District became Pomona District. They now had classes through the ninth grade and had 648 students. As years went by they added a high school in 1889, and a junior college curriculum in 1916, which stayed until the Mount San Antonio Junior College, was formed in 1946. Then in 1954, all the schools were established by the state with boundaries forming the Pomona Unified School District.
About the campus
They do not have on campus housing but they do have meals. This school is more for adults to get back into a career. They have a football team that is 2-0 right now. The band needs new instruments and they have started a fundraiser if anyone would like to donate to the fund. They have many extra curricular activities for the students. Being a unified school system there are many different programs and activities offered but each school has its own agenda that you will have to talk to each school for.
About the courses
The main area of study is office and administration but these are the other courses they offer: Beauty and Cosmetology, Production Trades, Medical Administration, and mechanics and repair. As of 2007, there were 1899 students with 1522 being full time. They offer open admission, career counseling, part time study, and career placement for their students.
