About the college

Pima Medical Institute is a school with a rich history that started simply with a husband and wife team and a dream. In 1972 Richard Luebke, Sr. and JoAnn Luebke began a school in Arizona and was accredited in 1983. By 1998 the Chula Vista campus was opened and quality medical education was passed on to students. Pima is a leader in medical career training and the school offers students certificate and associate degree programs.

Campus

In the San Diego area students can attend the Pima Medical Institute, PMI, campus in the city of Chula Vista. The campus is only 5 miles away from the downtown area of San Diego. Here students have access to the city’s local activities ranging from restaurants and shopping centers to a zoo, museums, and the beauty of beaches and mountains in the distance. For prospective students of PMI there are various financial aid options from campus based funding to federal Pell grants. On the flipside graduates are offered job placement assistance.

Courses

At the Chula Vista location future medical field graduates are offered programs in administrative billing and coding, dental assistant, medical assistant, pharmacy technician, radiography, respiratory therapy, veterinary assistant and veterinary technician. The administrative billing program provides students with the skills to link health insurance, medical facilities, and patients. Dental assisting is a high demand career choice that offers students clinical externships as does the medical assisting and pharmacy tech programs.

Radiography is an in demand program with a promising career future. Respiratory therapists can work in hospitals as well as in private home health care. The veterinary programs are vital to pet care and health. Each program requires a set number of clocked hours in order to complete the program. Upon graduation career opportunities will be in your grasp.
