About the college

Rand Graduate School has been a leader in tackling policy problems for over 60 years. The school takes its name from the combination of the words research and development and it a non-profit institution. The graduate school focuses on national security, education, crime and the environment. Today, Rand is dedicated to research and analysis, but has also offered programs in business, education, health, law, and science.

Campus

The Pardee Rand Graduate School is located in Santa Monica, California. The school was generally looked upon as a “think tank” which is a research institute that would influence public policy on specific agendas. Today Rand is not a “think tank”. Yes, they do conduct research on various public policy issues and their values are quality and objectivity. Their projects are nearly 100% not secret nor do their students and employees have secret clearance. Training at Rand is hands on with internships and fellowships available. The end result is a student who develops skills as a political analyst.

Courses

Students at the graduate school can take courses that are solely based on policy studies. Some of those courses include probability and statistics, microeconomics, regression analysis, political foundations of public policy and a few more. Also offered are elective courses in policy studies. There students can take courses in applied psychometrics, behavioral economics, criminology and criminal justice policies plus other policy study related electives.

One degree is offered at Pardee and that is the Doctor of Philosophy in Policy Analysis. That program includes analytic concentration, policy specialization and on the job training. At the graduate school, students gain a better understanding of policy studies plus courses in other fields like business and law can be taken. The future you have always wanted can be yours with Rand.
