About the college
Beauty schools are at the top of the job market because they train students the skills that local employers are looking for. Palomar Institute of Cosmetology has been teaching and training future beauty graduates for over 20 years. The institute has a prime location in California where there is not a shortage of great salons and career choices. The training at Palomar is hands on with an on campus salon for the public and an externship program available too. Campus Palomar Institute is located in San Marcos, California. While the college offers coursework with lectures and demonstrations by professionals it also has a public salon called Studio 355. Here in this 10 chair salon members of the public can get hair, nail and skin care procedures down with day and evening appointments. Students can actually participate in hands on training by first observing instructors and then doing the procedures on actual clients themselves. By doing this students learn the cosmetic procedures while administering customer service and becoming more familiar with salon business procedures. Courses At the San Marcos salon and college students have the opportunity to learn skills in programs that focus on cosmetology, esthetician/skin/body care and nail technology. The cosmetology program requires 1600 clocked hour for completion. The program teaches all aspects of hair care, styling and cutting with the use of Redken hair color products and instruction. Students also will learn creative nail technology, nail and foot care, spa treatments, facials, waxing and make up. The esthetician program is a 600 clocked hour course.
