About the college
Richard Welsh had a vision in 1980 to provide students with a professional education in architecture. They relocated the school in 1988 to San Diego from Chula Vista. Bislin Education Corp. bought it in 1989. In 1990, the Associate of Arts was added and Master of Architecture was added in 1994. Then two years later the Master of Science in Architecture was added. ForeFront Education acquired it and switched its name to NewSchool of Architecture & Design. NewSchool had evening classes to begin with to give many students the opportunity to attend classes because they had to work to pay tuition.
