About the college

MiraCosta College has a rich history. In 1934, a community college was founded under the name Oceanside-Carlsbad Junior College and it was the second community college in San Diego County. 30 years later and the college went through a name change to MiraCosta College and moved to its current location on Barnard Drive. MiraCosta is dedicated to its students and their success with innovative programs in some of the industry’s most desired career fields.

Campus

The Oceanside campus is as beautiful as it sounds. The campus is located on 121 acres of land with an average class size of 30 students. The school has on site child care, a variety of athletic programs, student clubs and organizations, library, computer labs, tutoring, honors programs, performing arts by students and special guests and apartment housing close to the campus. Life at Oceanside is full of activity with a weekly “College Hour” that occurs at noon and presents a variety of cultural and student activities.

Courses

MiraCosta College offers continuing education courses for the community, non credit courses, and some for students. There is also online traffic school, other online programs, driver’s Ed and other workplace skills training. The college does offer degree and certificate programs. They offer an associate in arts degree in career and technical education disciplines with general studies and university studies. The certificate programs include certificates of achievement in specific career fields and certificates of proficiency in a trade or occupation that can be put towards a certificate of achievement.

At MiraCosta, the career and skills training learned can take graduates on to rewarding careers or transfer to a 4 year university to further their education. The possibilities are endless at MiraCosta and your future with them can start today.
