About the college
Thomas Aquinas College is a leader in Catholic liberal education. The college focuses on natural and supernatural matters with a curriculum that does not include textbooks. The courses are based upon the works of the most influential authors, poets, mathematicians and philosophers including Aristotle, Homer, T.S. Eliot and others. The training at Thomas Aquinas does not include lectures. The students engage in conversation, seminars and discussions. In addition, there are no majors, minors or electives. Campus The campus for the college is located in Santa Paula, California. At the Thomas Aquinas campus students have the beauty of California paired with Catholic life. The campus offers classrooms, labs, library, dining hall and chapels. Housing is also offered on campus. Students can be a part of mass 3 times a day with confession as part of the activity and scripture reading. Thomas Aquinas College offers students athletics, dances, a student publication called Demiurgus, language clubs and an organization called TACers for Life where students counsel and pray at local abortion clinics. Courses The curriculum at Thomas Aquinas is divided into 4 years of study much like a high school curriculum is set up. Students are part of seminars each year that include studies of some of the greats in philosophy. Students learn the works of Plato, Sophocles, Euripides and others. Students also study the works of those prominent in language, mathematics, laboratory and theology. In the student’s junior year music is added to the curriculum. The mission of the college is to provide the groundwork in the arts of thinking and teach students the great ‘works” to use in their futures, careers and to further their education.
