About the college

In 1968 Nevitt Sanford became one of the first to found an educational institution for clinical psychology. The school was the Wright Institute. Students have the opportunity to study social issues and give adults a place to make learning a life long process. The Wright Institute just recently celebrated its 40th anniversary and is still going strong with Sanford’s belief and training in clinical psychology and the understanding on our diverse societies today.

Campus

The psychology campus is located in Berkeley, California. The city of Berkeley has a beautiful landscape and climate with beaches, mountains and deserts close by. Attending the Wright Institute is common for most students after they complete their master’s degree in psychology while others choose Wright to make a career change in their lives. The student body at the college is diverse with different backgrounds, ages and cultures. The average age is 30 while more women attend this institution and ¼ of the student body is of an ethnic diversity.

Courses

Students at the Wright Institute gain an understanding of clinical psychology and human understanding. The curriculum at the institution is rich in critical thinking within research, clinical theory, understanding oneself in society and the relationship between the client and the clinician. The training at Wright involves extensive coursework with hands on training methods. Students are learning ways to arrive at the right answers every time and in every situation.

At Wright students can choose the doctor of psychology program or the master’s program to complete their psychological journey. The institution also offers a program philosophy that is based upon the school’s history and mission. In addition, the case conference/professional development seminar series teaches students self-reflection as a clinician with critical thinking and problem solving skills. The seminars take 3 years to complete. At the Wright Institute you can analyze the mind and gain self-reflection and a degree in the process.
