About the college
In 1980 30 acres of land was bought and became the starting foundation for Santiago Canyon College. The land was purchased from the Irvine Company and in 1985, the first classes at the college were held. The name was not originally Santiago Canyon College, but it has been called by that name since 1997. New name or old name the mission is the same. The college is dedicated to quality education, cultural awareness, critical thinking, exceptional communication skills, and effective decision making. Campus Orange, California is the home for the campus at Santiago Canyon College. The campus is now nestled upon 82 acres within a peaceful and picturesque setting. Students have access to an on site library, public transportation, small classes, award winning faculty and year round outdoor activities. The campus also offers transfer programs to 4 year universities, top industry career choices, academic, and career assistance, competitive athletic programs all in an affordable institution with a great location. Courses The programs offered at Santiago Canyon College include academic and career technical programs, degrees, certificates, distance learning, and an honors program. The college also offers continuing education programs that include adult basic education, English as a Second Language, GED and high school subjects and parent education courses. Students can choose from programs in the following fields of study: chemistry, communication, gemology, mathematics, political science and a few others. The online courses offer flexible scheduling while the honors program takes students into smaller classes in a unique learning atmosphere.
