About the college

Los Medanos College is a school dedicated to its individual students and the community. The college focuses critical thinking, diversity, building on each other’s ideas, partnerships with the community and quality education. At the college, students have an employment center where students get referrals to local employer job openings, on campus jobs, annual job fair and volunteer programs. All of the networking can actually help students once they graduate and become an active part of the workforce.

Campus

Pittsburg, California is the location for the Los Medanos College campus. Training at the campus is hands on with various career-oriented programs. At Los Medanos students, have outdoor activities, athletics, career services, guidance, and counseling, an online bookstore, childcare services, and a variety of student clubs and organizations. The campus has even extended its educational work past the city of Pittsburg and into Brentwood. The center in Brentwood offers transfer and general education courses, computer science and business, child development and students can even complete an associate degree.

Courses

At Los Medanos College, students can choose from 27 departments that offer a certificate or degree in over 39 career fields. The departments have a list from A-Z and within each department is a career field that offers students a certificate or degree upon completion. Programs include art, business, and cosmetology, liberal arts, nursing, recording arts, and welding technology. These are just a few of the programs offered at Los Medanos. Upon graduation, students can transfer to a 4-year university or take their part in the competitive workforce.
