Laguna College of Art and design was founded in 1961 and has five undergraduate majors and a graduate department. Low tuition and scholarships with financial aid available makes education very affordable. This school believes great art matters and so do you!
About the campus
It is located in the beachside community of Laguna Beach, California. It is only an hour’s drive from many museums and galleries and of course the great beach for off time. They offer housing for those who need it as well. They have many visiting artists who come to meet you and help you with your art questions. Chuck Jones who created Warner brothers Looney Tunes was a founder of Laguna College of Art and design. You have many other perks to going to this school as well. You can even intern with Paul frank and Blizzard or the Cartoon Network! In southern California, you will also find leading video game producers and animation studios as well as design firms. Where else you going to find so much inspiration for your art career? They do not offer a meal plan but have a list of many places for you to check out.
About the courses
The main major is visual and performing arts. The other courses are Fine arts where you will learn to paint and to sculpture. Graphic design you will learn new media technology. Illustration you will learn both traditional and technological media. Game Art you will learn how to make your drawings come to like for games and graduating students have worked on game prototypes and game conversions. This program is where mentors from EA Games, Blizzard, High Moon and NCsoft review and council your work. This is a treat in itself! Then there is Animation. You will learn how to make your drawings come to life! You will learn from the many master animators who come in to help!
