About the school
In 1964, a small group of educators discussed what the best way to honor our assassinated president. Kennedy’s ideas were always working to educate. Therefore, they got encouragement from area businessmen and public officials and in 1965; The John F. Kennedy University opened its doors to 50 students. The goal was to prepare the students in the high technology, knowledge-intensive California economy. As the university continues to grow, President Kennedy’s words still serve as a guide and beacon. We sail on a new sea because there is knowledge to be gained.
About the campus
The main campus is located in Pleasant Hills, California. This is a private, not for profit school that offers up to the Doctoral degree. They offer more majors than any other school of their size. They had 1565 students enrolled in 2007 with 98% being female. 954 were full time students. There is no on site housing or meals provided. You can speak to the student services and they can help you find off campus housing. They like you to come 4-6 weeks in advance to make suitable arrangements. About the courses
The degrees awarded include Business and management, Education and Teaching, Fine Arts, Law, Liberal Arts, Mathematics, Medicine, Nutrition and exercise therapy, Religion and Philosophy, Therapy and Counseling. The courses listed under each category can be seen at the website. The students mainly take therapy, counseling, and fine arts. There is an on campus library and they offer weekend and part time studies. There is financial aid available to those students who qualify. John F Kennedy also offers distance learning and career counseling.
