Music is the gift that many give. Music makes people happy, sad, remember the past and sing in the shower. At the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, SFCM, they are educating the world and professional musicians with their exceptional curriculum. The conservatory is the oldest and major independent institution of music and is located in one of the most entertaining cities: San Francisco. The education is one on one and upon graduation, the world will have a sweeter sound thanks to the conservatory. Campus San Francisco is a city of culture, diversity, great sites, local attractions and music to appeal to all tastes. The school offers local housing options and financial aid to new students. Once accepted you will have a badge that is worn while in school to gain access to the campus, the practice rooms, computer labs and teacher studios. The BART system gets students to and from the campus. Students can even work on campus while attending classes. Courses At SFCM, students can take classes in undergraduate programs in history, literature, philosophy, creative writing, oral communication, acoustics and mathematics. Also available are classes in the Alexander Technique, music history/literature/music theory/musicianship, teaching skills and practical aspects of a career in the music field. SFCM also offers three academic divisions. The preparatory division teaches music making education that can be a part of a student’s life regardless of career choices. The adult extension division provides music education for professionals and music lovers alike. Summer West Music is for the young musician to interact with talented musicians and the faculty.
