About the College
Folsom Lake College has the main campus and then it has satellite sites also located in Placerville and Rancho Cordova. Folsom was founded in 1965 and has an enrollment of over 7,000 students yearly and its main courses students apply here for is Arts and Science. Folsom is not far from the urban area and has many recreations for the students to enjoy. Folsom Lake College even offers credit for some life experience. You receive credit for some high school classes as well. About the campus This college is a great choice if you are not ready or able to afford a 4 year college. It is very affordable and a lot cheaper than many other two year schools. This is also a great option if you are not ready to move from home and not financially able to go to a bigger school. On campus housing is not available or meals. You will have to come to town early, some say 6 weeks, and find suitable housing within walking or short riding distance to your school. About the courses Folsom Lake College is offering some of the newer technology classes and prepares them for the real world. Some of the newest ones include Fire technology, Nonprofit Organization Management, Project/Public management, Water, and waste management. The other courses they have always had students are taking are Accounting, Early Childhood, Mathematics, Psychology, real estate, Science, Social Studies and many more. You can talk to the advisors when you go to enroll to find out if they have what you need to take. The teachers here know your name and the classes are small and intimate. The teachers get to know you and help you individually more than if you went to a larger class school. Many students go here first to get their general education out of the way before transferring and the teacher’s help you choose just the right classes that you will need to do beforehand.
