About the college

In 1909 Samuel Merritt College, SMC, was founded. The college is fully accredited as a health sciences institution that offers career driven programs in nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assisting and podiatric medicine. The training is hands on in real world job environments paired with classroom instruction.

The school has a strong reputation in the nursing field, as the school is the largest source for that career field. In addition, Samuel Merritt is the only school that trains and helps students secure jobs as physical/occupational therapists, physician assistants, and podiatrists in the East Bay.
