The California Institute of Integral Studies was founded by Dr. Haridas Chaudhuri from Bengal in 1961. Chaudhuri is a humanist, educator and philosopher. Hid ideals and beliefs are the backbone of the California Institute of Integral Studies. The college combines education with a spiritual dimension and a strong connection to the community. California Institute of Integral Studies supports political liberation and feminism as well as other emancipator movements. Campus 1453 Mission Street in San Francisco, California is the home for the California Institute of Integral Studies. Having a campus in the San Francisco Bay area give students a beautiful climate, non stop entertainment venues and some of the best scenery in the US. The city has the Golden Gate Bridge, various parks, restaurant and many shopping centers to keep students busy when they are not studying. The campus offers students employment while they attend college like working in the library. Students do not have to stray far from the campus for fun, studying or work. There are two certificate based programs. One is community mental health. The other program was based upon East and West Psychology that led students into the study of spiritual counseling. California Institute of Integral Studies offers two graduate degree programs. One is a school of professional psychology and the other is a school of consciousness transformation. The psychology students can obtain a master’s of arts in the field or a doctor of psychology. The other school offers master’s of fine arts in writing and spiritual study courses.
