About the college

Master Wei Tsuei established the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences in 1982. Master Tsuei at the time of opening the college was working to educate others in Taiji, Qigong, and meditation, as well as TCM. The western world still to this day may not accept acupuncture and TCM as a viable form of health care, but many do and would prefer this alternative to medications. The Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences was established to help bridge the gap between the east and the west especially when it comes to the health sciences. The college was created for the training and advancement of traditional Chinese medicine within the context of Chinese culture

By 1989, enrollment had grown and the need for a larger building was imminent, at this time the college moved to the current location. In 1991, The Academy was approved by the California Council for Private Post secondary Vocational Education as a degree-granting institution and in the following year the Academy was accredited by the National Accreditation Council for Schools and Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

At this time, the academy is approved by the California Bureau for Private Post secondary and Vocational Education as a degree-granting institution, is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and is recognized by the United States Secretary of Education.

The college provides the educational tools needed for graduates to receive a Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine degree and are eligible to sit for the acupuncture licensure examination given by the California State Acupuncture Board and sit for the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncturists and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) exam.
