About the college

Pacifica Graduate Institute has a 30 year history that teaches students about depth psychology, which is the study of lies “below the surface” coined by Freud and Jung. Pacifica teaches the studies of depth psychology and mythological studies. The school operates on the premise of cultural diversity, open inquires and academic freedom. Think of it as student imagination that is challenged by the psychology field and the phrase that came from two great psychiatrists: Freud and Jung.

Campus

The institute is located in the California foothills in the city of Carpintaria. The campus is referred to as Lambert Road campus and it is close to the cities of LA and Santa Barbara. This campus is built upon 13 acres of a 1920’s private estate. Its location puts it near by the Pacific Ocean with great views of the ocean and the Santa Ynez Mountains. At the campus students have access to the research library, bookstore, faculty and administrative offices and organic gardens.

Courses

Pacifica offers various degree programs for its students to engage in. The institute offers twp PhD degree programs in clinical psychology and depth psychology with an emphasis in psychotherapy. The clinical psychology program does offer an internship. Pacifica also offers two joint degree programs, one with a master of arts and PhD in depth psychology and the other in mythological studies. The master of arts degrees can be taken counseling psychology and engaged humanities with an emphasis in depth psychology.

Psychology has always been and probably always will be an interesting field of study for students and an in demand career field. Pacifica Graduate Institute teaches the fundamentals of the field and earns graduates degrees that can help them secure a career in the workforce.
