About the college

The Universal College of Beauty has quite a rich history that dates all the way back to March 22, 1930. The college was founded by Mrs. Hazel D. Williams could not get into any beauty schools because of racial discrimination. She and her husband founded a school of their own under the name Henrietta Beauty School after a friend who helped them with financial assistance. In 1956, ownership changed and so did the name, but quality beauty education for everyone stayed the same.

Campus

Campus number one is located in the culturally diverse and equally entertaining city of Los Angeles. LA provides beauty and a stable location for high quality, hands on career training in the beauty field. Their goal is to train students for a future as a cosmetology entrepreneur and teacher. Training at the beauty college prepares students for the California board exam while learning the skills to build a clientele and work with the community.

Courses

The Universal College of Beauty offers students programs in cosmetology, manicurist and instructor trainee. The cosmetology program is a 1600 clocked hour course that teaches the fundamentals of the beauty field. Students will learn all things cosmetic, hair, nails, make up and skin. The manicurist program is only 400-clocked hours with a focus on manicures, pedicures, artificial nails, skin conditions and disorders. The instructor trainee program is 600 hours that results in becoming a teacher aid.

Attending the Universal College of Beauty gives every student a chance to become a leader in the cosmetology field. The school started because of a problem with discrimination and a drive from a woman named Mrs. Hazel D. Williams. She did not give up her dream years ago and today the school is still going strong.
