About the college

In the San Joaquin Valley, a group decided to establish a college where students would learn quality legal education. In 1969 that dream became a reality and the San Joaquin College of Law was founded. The college would combine practical skills with theoretical thinking. San Joaquin College of Law, SJCL, has a unique location in that there is no institution like it within 120 miles in all directions of the campus.

Clovis, California is the location for the SJCL campus. A beautiful city, year round great climate and close access to California’s entertainment filled cities are just some of the things that students can be happy about when they attend class at the Clovis campus. At the campus, students have the student bar association, Delta Theta Phi, career services like clinical studies and legal classifieds. In addition, students have access to the bookstore, law library and mediation opportunities.

At SJCL, students are offered a juris doctor degree, which can be earned in 3, 4 or 5 years. The program requires 86 semester units, which include 71 required courses, and 15 elective courses units. A co-op degree can also be earned with a juris doctorate and a Master of Arts degree in peacemaking and conflict studies.
