About the College:
Occidental College was founded in 1887 and is considered one of the oldest liberal arts colleges in the West Coast. Occidental College is located in Los Angeles California. The college goes by a few things at their school like Academic Excellence, Athletic Excellence, Community Service, Entrepreneurship, and Screen Stardom. The reason they are screen stardom is because the campus has been a popular movie location for over 80 years. Big stars like Katharine Hepburn, Judy Garland, Jimmy Stewart, Val Kilmer, Alicia Silverstone, and Jack Black have all filmed movies at the college.
Campus:
Occidental College offers students on campus housing. First year students are required to live on campus. The campus housing provides wireless internet access, laundry facilities, computer labs, meeting space and the campus is smoke free. The college also has meal service which is served in The Marketplace in the Johnson Students Center. This is a great place for students to meet and study or just get to know one another. The Center got remolded and has comfy booths and large tables. The campus also features a bookstore, Chapel, Fitness Center, Hangouts, Health and Counseling Center, Intercultural Center, Laundry, Library, Parking, Pool, Postal Center and Study Areas. The college also offers financial aid and counseling to their students to help them get started in their college careers.
Courses:
Occidental College offers great programs and courses for their students so they a variety to choose from. The courses offered are American Studies, Area Studies, Art History and Visual Arts, Asian Studies, Athletics and Physical Activities, Biochemistry, biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Core Program, Economics, Education, Geology, History, Mathematics, Music, Physics, Politics, Religious Studies, Sociology, Spanish and French Studies, Theater and English Writing are just to name some of them.
