About the college

The California Institute of the Arts was founded in 1961 by Walt and Roy Disney. This school is the product of two institutions being merged together. The Los Angeles School of Music Conservatory and the Chouinard Art Institute are two institutions that have been around for years and today make up what is known as the California Institute of the Arts. This school is the first art school to offer both undergraduate and graduate programs in visual and performing arts.

Campus

24700 Mcbean Parkway is where the California Institute of the Arts calls home. The campus is located in Valencia, California with a quick 30 miles north of downtown Los Angeles. The campus of the arts is set upon 60 acres of beautiful scenery with mountains in the backdrop. With an amazing 500,000 square footage of classrooms and state of the art equipment students have the best for their educational journey into the arts. There are also art and dance studios, editing suites for film and video plus many other amenities including an apartment complex on campus.

Courses

Courses at the California Institute of the Arts include all areas of study. Art , critical studies, dance, film and video, music and theater are all taught here. The degrees offered at the institute give students the ability to obtain Bachelor of Fine Arts, Master of Fine Arts, Master of Arts, Doctor of Musical Arts and Certificate based programs. The degrees can take as little as 1 year with full time attendance to a 4 year long program in order to graduate.
