About the college
Alameda Beauty College was established in 1960 and was incorporated in 1979 by Martha Beazley. Martha owned the college until January of 1994 when she sold the college to Marie and Douglas Ladd. The Ladd’s kept the same goals in mind and ensured that all students were receiving a quality education. In 2008, the Ladd’s sold the college to Tracy and Roger Becker. Their plan is to enhance the curriculum and bring the students to a new level of excellence. Campus The beauty college is home in Alameda, San Francisco Bay Area. The college serves San Leandro, Oakland, Castro Valley, Hayward, San Francisco, Fremont, and other nearby communities. The school does not provide housing for students; however, apartments and other rentals are available throughout the area. Clientele also visit the college for services offered which aids in the hands on instruction training. Courses The students learn hands on training in esthetics and cosmetology. The cosmetology courses will prepare students for the written and practical examination for the California Department of Consumer Affairs Cosmetology License. The course is divided into four parts including theory & lecture, demonstration, practical, and professional clinic training. The cosmetology program is a 1600-clock hours. The esthetician course is 600 clock hours. After completion of the course students will find employment as stylist, perm specialist, platform artist, color specialist, salon owner, educator, competitions, school administrator, school owner, instructor, skin care specialist, make up artist, manufacturer, manufacturer representative, and salon manager. The college offers day and evening classes as well as part time and full time courses. Classes on average last fewer than 14 months with students prepared to pass the state licensing exam.
